Drooping eyelids are a universal problem that every girl has to face.

What Causes Droopy Eyelids?

1) Excess eyelid skin
This condition can occur even in younger people. It may be caused by genetics, eye structure, or ethnic characteristics. Excess eyelid skin can droop over the eyelid crease, making the crease less visible, resulting in hidden eyelids or the appearance of having no double eyelids.

2) Sagging eyelid skin
This is most commonly caused by aging. As we get older, the skin and tissues around the eyes lose collagen and elasticity, causing the eyelid skin to sag.

Nowadays, many women use double eyelid tape. Based on the doctor’s experience, frequent use of double eyelid tape can also be an important factor that contributes to sagging eyelids.

Because of this, droopy eyelid concerns can be found in both younger individuals and older adults, with the condition becoming more common with age. The skin around the eyes is similar to skin on other parts of the body—when it loses firmness and begins to sag, it can cause the outer corners of the eyes to droop. This can make a person appear older or more tired. It may also affect eye health, causing symptoms such as heavy eyelids, eyelashes rubbing against the cornea, excessive tearing, eye irritation, and in some cases, obstructed vision.

Therefore, an important aspect of eyelid surgery for droopy eyelids is performing blepharoplasty in a way that looks natural and suits each individual’s eye shape.

Treatment

At Sky Clinic, we use a long-incision technique, combined with eyelid skin removal and fat contouring, to correct excess skin and sagging eyelids, helping restore a more youthful appearance.

Important Things to Know About Droopy Eyelid Surgery

Droopy eyelid correction is considered a minor surgical procedure. It is performed under local anesthesia and usually takes about 1 hour. Hospital admission is not required, and patients can return home on the same day after surgery.

Stitches are typically removed within 5–7 days. The size of the incision depends on the severity of the drooping eyelids. In general, the eyelids begin to settle within 1–3 months, with full recovery typically taking around 3–6 months.
